Concept of Peer Learning Hub

What is Peer Learning Hub?

Peer Learning Hub® refers to global campus for nomad workers and nomad students. We described it as “Collaborative learning space with shared housing for higher education, initially focus on technology, language study, and cultural immersion.”

Background of the Establishment of Peer Learning Hub: From the Era of Teaching (Education) to the Era of Learning Together (EduSharing)

With the advent of Google search, YouTube, and ChatGPT, it has become easy and inexpensive to acquire a large amount of knowledge anytime and anywhere. In the era where technology is advancing, it is no longer sufficient for teachers to unilaterally provide instruction; instead, there is a need for peers to collaborate and learn together. The platform for meeting, learning, and working with peers is the “Peer Learning Hub®.”

Basic Concept of Peer Learning Hub

The concept of the Peer Learning Hub involves living in a shared house with one local residents and two foreigners, immersing oneself in different cultures for everyone. Through this experience, all individuals learn new values and cultures, engage with society through internships and regional revitalization experiences.

This system was conceived by the founder of the Peer Learning Hub and Kirirom Institute of Technology in Cambodia. At Kirirom Institute of Technology, Japanese students who learned reverse engineering and accumulated 3000 hours of internship experience over four years were sent to major companies such as Microsoft headquarters and Dentsu. The expertise gained from these experiences has been poured into the development of the Peer Learning Hub.

The red box above includes online universities such as Kirirom Institute of Technology, Coursera, and edX. In general, individuals have the freedom to choose which online university courses to take. However, due to the nature of the internships offered by the Peer Learning Hub, the acceptable majors may vary at each Peer Learning Hub location.

The network of multiple Peer Learning Hubs

The first Peer Learning Hub was born in June 2023 in Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. In the future, the expansion of Peer Learning Hubs is not limited to Japan but will extend worldwide, including the new peer learning hub in Cambodia which will be opened in January 2024 (with two locations in Phnom Penh and the Kirirom Highlands). There are plans to facilitate collaboration and movement between Peer Learning Hubs in different locations.
Through Peer Learning Hubs, a framework is being developed to enable interactions with various people in diverse locations, including university students who are taking a gap year, high school students aiming for overseas university admission, nomad workers who travel around the world, engineers engaged in English language learning, and corporate entities serving as internship hosts.

The World we pursue (Goals)

What kind of world will emerge with the widespread adoption of Peer Learning Hubs?

  1. We aspire to significantly increase proficient English speakers in Japan and realize a Japan that welcomes young foreign talents, including their families.
  2. In the midst of the global rise in education costs, we aim to establish a system where talented youth from economically disadvantaged countries can become global leaders.
  3. We aim to change the higher education as not the place for studying but the place for learning through interaction and experience with peers coming from all over the world.

Global Expansion through Franchising

The expansion of Peer Learning Hub locations will happen in collaboration with companies as franchises. The franchise development will progress in both Japan and overseas. For more details, please contact us.

We are also seeking individuals who can provide English shared housing, so please feel free to reach out.
